Tyler C. Ralston, PsyD, is a clinical psychologist in independent practice in Honolulu, Hawaii.  He specializes in the treatment of posttraumatic stress and trauma-related guilt, working with formerly battered women, combat veterans, and other trauma survivors.  He also regularly treats adult individuals experiencing panic disorder, phobias, obsessive compulsive disorder, generalized anxiety, and stress.  His therapy approach is cognitive behavioral and he uses empirically supported treatments.  

 

Prior to earning a PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University – Hawaii in 2005, Dr. Ralston gained extensive specialty training in the assessment and treatment of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) under the supervision of a seasoned psychologist and PTSD expert, Edward Kubany, PhD.  Dr. Ralston subsequently completed a pre-doctoral internship at the VA Puget Sound in Washington where he treated veterans struggling with PTSD as well as a variety of general mental and emotional difficulties.  Upon returning to Hawaii, he completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the VA National Center for PTSD where he gained specialty expertise in the assessment and treatment of PTSD.

 

From late 2006 to early 2008, Dr. Ralston was also on a national team of Subject-Matter Experts developing content for afterdeployment.org, a Federal website intended to provide psychoeducation, initial assessment, and pre-clinical psychological care to active duty service members, veterans, and their families.  Dr. Ralston has co-authored 11 journal publications, three scholarly book chapters, and a book (Treating PTSD in Battered Women: A Step-by-Step Manual for Therapists & Counselors, 2008). Most of his publications are on PTSD, anxiety, and stress-related topics.
